Over October and November, Redis conducted two surveys regarding its usage. The TechValidate survey had a response rate of 12% from 1600 out of 6700+ Redis customers. High availability was the most valued feature by 78% of respondents, followed closely by stable high performance and seamless scaling/clustering. Many users reported significant benefits such as reduced downtime (70-90%), improved performance (50-70%), cost savings (30-50%), and faster time to market (30-50%). Additionally, 71% of customers use Redis as a primary datastore. The survey also revealed that increased usage is driven by Redis' ability to scale with application needs. Use cases span across various applications such as job & queue, high speed transactions, content caching, user session storage, real-time analytics, data ingest, and more. Mobile applications and e-commerce are leading favorites for solutions employing Redis, while emerging uses include fraud detection and IoT. Over 56% of customers would like to move additional data into Redis from RDBMSs like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL.
