The State of the Map US 2024 event brought together the US OpenStreetMap (OSM) community to share experiences, ideas, and showcase innovative projects and technologies. The theme "The Great Outdoors" highlighted the importance of open data in recreation and the environment, with over 70 presenters discussing topics from tools to map impacts. Mapbox representatives, including Robert Florance and Plushcap, attended the event to stay connected with the US geospatial community and join conversations about geo trends in 2024. They presented a lightning talk on mapping complex lanes and engaged in discussions on tagging protocol, traffic flow estimates, and innovative mapping tools. The event also featured talks from companies like Meta, Lyft, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, showcasing their work on pedestrian networks, internal routing, and road signage data. Mapbox continues to support OSM with over 4 million added features since 2019 and is honored to be an Associate sponsor of OSM US and a Gold sponsor of the OSM Foundation.
