Overture Maps data, a valuable topographic dataset for Spatial Data Scientists, is now available on the cloud, allowing users to access its vast amount of standardized data across administrative boundaries. The dataset, built from OpenStreetMap sources, includes localities, transport nodes, and buildings, with a total of over 2.3 billion features in its buildings dataset alone. To solve the challenge of accessing this massive dataset, Overture Maps has partnered with Google Cloud and Snowflake to make it seamlessly accessible via SQL queries and CARTO Workflows. This allows users to easily integrate the data into their existing organizational data from a single centralized source, eliminating the need for ETL processes and enabling low-code tools like CARTO Workflows to be used. The cloud-native capabilities of CARTO enable users to tap into Overture Maps data without any need for onerous data migration or integration efforts, making it easier to generate insights from spatial data at a massive scale.
