Feature Spotlight: Optional Filters for Algolia Search | Algolia
Blog post from Algolia
Algolia's Optional Filters allow users to manipulate search rankings without changing the number of records returned. Unlike traditional filters, optional filters don't remove records from the result set but instead enable users to say "If records match this filter, then move them up or down the ranking." This feature can be used in conjunction with facet filters and filter scoring for more precise control over search results. Optional filters are especially useful when additional context is needed at query-time. However, they should not be used on searches that may return more than 100,000 results due to potential impacts on search performance.
