Announcing Vonage Java SDK v8.0.0

The Vonage Java SDK has undergone significant changes in version 8.0.0, with over 17 thousand lines of code refactored and improved. The new release includes the official release of the Vonage Video API, which is now available in the com.vonage.client.video package. The SDK has also migrated to a new artifact ID on Maven Central, from client to server-sdk, to avoid confusion with other tooling published under the com.vonage group. Backwards-incompatible changes have been made to the public API of the SDK, including the removal of deprecated members and packages no longer maintained due to their antiquity. The SDK has also removed unnecessary dependencies, such as javax.servlet and jackson-dataformat-hal, to minimize its dependency footprint. New features include configurable request timeouts, silent authentication, and improvements to the AccountClient class. Additionally, the release includes updates to the Verify API, including new locales and removals of deprecated members. The Voice API has also seen quality-of-life improvements, including simplified call modification actions and a revised downloadRecording method. The SDK now supports Java 8 and can be updated with ease, making it an ideal choice for developers building applications on the Vonage platform.
