Inside a winning TwilioQuest extension
TwilioQuest extensions were released to allow users to create their own content and missions, and a retro-game themed hackathon was held where 300 students competed to build the best extension. La'Kaleigh's bot.NET extension won the prize by teaching C# basics through a storyline driven by wordplay and references to the .NET community. Her extension uses various TwilioQuest features, including custom sprites, Tiled editing, and validators that check user code for correctness using the .NET Compiler Platform. The validator can parse the submitted code, get a syntax tree, and see if it contains key elements that the objective asked them to include. La'Kaleigh plans to continue developing bot.NET with new features, including comparing syntax trees directly and teaching about ASP.NET. Users can find the extension on GitHub and follow along with its development, or build their own TwilioQuest mission using the template.
