Simulate a live stream of a video playlist with FFmpeg
Many companies prefer using prerecorded video over live streaming due to the potential risks involved. However, live content can generate buzz and engage viewers more effectively than pre-recorded material. One solution is simulated live streaming, where pre-recorded videos are streamed as if they were live. This approach removes many of the unknowns associated with live broadcasting while still providing the benefits of live content. FFmpeg can be used to implement this functionality by preparing source files, creating a text file containing video locations, and live streaming to Mux. While managing FFmpeg commands can be complex, it offers an effective way to create simulated live streams for engaging audiences without exposing organizations to the risks of live broadcasts.
