Unleashing holiday spirit at Datadog
The company Datadog is preparing for its second annual holiday food drive across all its offices worldwide. Last year, they learned valuable lessons from their first initiative. They decided on a food drive as it was universal and inexpensive to donate. With 1.4 million people relying on emergency food programs in New York City alone, every contribution counts. To encourage participation, they started a friendly competition with four teams representing each office and remote employees. Using Datadog dashboards, they tracked team participation and displayed it on TV screens in offices and shared it on Slack. They also made online donations an option to increase participation. The food drive resulted in an overall participation rate of 91%. This year, they plan to scale the initiative with five teams, including smaller offices joining remote teams.
