Inspeqtor Process Monitoring with Datadog

Mike Perham, CEO of Contributed Systems and blogger at mikeperham.com, faced an issue with increasing memory usage in background worker processes while working as the Director of Engineering at an eCommerce company. To solve this problem, he used Inspeqtor, a Linux-based software that monitors critical application infrastructure on local machines. Inspeqtor allows users to define rules and automate actions based on those rules. It can be installed with a simple command and works by querying installed init systems to find associated processes. Inspeqtor is open source and free, but an enhanced version called Inspeqtor Pro offers additional features like Statsd integration for sending metrics to the Datadog Agent. Using both tools together provides a comprehensive solution for monitoring and managing application infrastructure.
