How our Cloud SIEM team uses context attributes with Continuous Profiler to get crucial performance insights
Developers building applications that handle millions of data points per second require good observability data on workload performance. Datadog's Continuous Profiler offers amazing visibility into the performance of services in production, helping detect and resolve bottlenecks or measure the impact of code updates on performance. However, when classes and methods are widely reused across the codebase, it can be challenging to determine what is consuming the most resources. Custom context attributes are extremely useful for surfacing these details and unlocking the next level of Continuous Profiler's potential. They enable software engineers to label their code with additional runtime data, which is then included in the analytics computed by the profiler and made visible in Datadog. This post describes how the Cloud SIEM team uses custom context attributes to enrich profiles with business-logic data and thus make profiles even more actionable.
