A survey commissioned by Zapier found that 87% of knowledge workers dread returning to work after taking time off, with common concerns including getting back into a routine, catching up on administrative work, and feeling overwhelmed. However, 83% also believe there are things that would make it easier to come back to work, such as automation tools to eliminate busy work and ensure nothing slips through the cracks, including automatic out-of-office replies, email filtering, project updates, and check-in meetings with teammates or direct reports. To alleviate these pain points, Zapier suggests implementing automated workflows to surface important emails and notifications upon return from vacation, saving time and reducing stress.
