Summary

I shared my first story online in August 2021 and felt like a complete fraud because I knew that the #1 rule of marketing was to focus on customers, but I had no credibility or authority. However, storytelling ended up making me a somebody in the eyes of my clients. To write effective story-based emails, you need to create a relatable character, build an emotional journey with conflict, and increase the absorption potential of the story. This can be achieved by using people to narrate the story, creating an emotional journey with humor or other feelings, and crafting irresistible cliffhangers that leave readers wanting more. Good stories are made not only of plot, conflict, and characters but also of words used, tone, length of sentences, rhetorical devices, and formatting. Using conversationally written language, showing instead of telling, using humor, and providing content on demand can all contribute to making a story-based email engaging and effective. By incorporating these elements, businesses can create captivating emails that entertain, educate, and hook their readers, leading to increased loyalty and better performance.
