Summary

I host events all the time at work. Sometimes they're fun social events, sometimes they's are optional business meetings. I used to manually add people to calendar invites after posting a message on Slack and checking for reactions daily. This was tedious and prone to errors, which left me feeling horrible. To solve this, I created a Zap that automatically adds people to a calendar invite when they react with a specific emoji to a Slack message, streamlining the process and ensuring everyone who wants to come gets an invitation. With this Zap, I can now host events without wasting time on tedious tasks and no one is left out. To set up a similar Zap, you'll need a Zapier account, which offers free sign-up for new users. You can create your own Zap from scratch or use pre-made templates to get started. The process involves sending a message in Slack, testing the trigger, updating filters, adding calendar steps, and finally beginning to use your Zap.
