Summary

If you're a user of Microsoft Teams, setting an out of office message can be a bit tricky due to the software's complexity. However, it is possible to do so in the business version of Teams and even schedule it for a specific time period. For free users, there are approximations that can be made but not actual scheduling capabilities. The process involves clicking on the profile icon, selecting "Set status message" or "Schedule out of office," entering an out of office message, and toggling on automatic replies to send the message automatically when someone contacts you. Users can also make further adjustments by setting a start and end date for their message. Unfortunately, mobile Teams users do not have the capability to schedule out of office messages, but they can set a status message that says they're out of office. To remove an out of office status from Teams, users must toggle off automatic replies and select "Available" in their availability settings. Tips for using out of office messages include preparing everyone for your leave, including contingency contact information, creating templates, and automating Microsoft Teams with Zapier.
