I've been feeling stuck as a business owner for over eight years, and despite trying to launch a new business, I was unable to come up with new ideas. However, taking a 12-week lyrical jazz class helped me find my creativity again by forcing me to use my brain in a different way, loosening up physically, and giving me more energy. The experience has also shown that dance can increase creativity by improving cognitive flexibility, providing an opportunity for pure creative expression, challenging the brain's ability to think flexibly and creatively, and promoting lateral thinking. By focusing on the journey rather than a specific goal, being compassionate with oneself, making dance a social activity, striking while the iron is hot, and stepping outside of one's comfort zone, others can also leverage dance to find inspiration and get their creative wheels turning again.
