Twilio Microvisor is a new managed IoT device builder platform that aims to find a balance between the expressiveness and openness of a DIY approach and the convenience of an integrated platform. It separates system components, such as secure boot, OTA firmware upgrades, and secure communications, from the main application code, allowing developers to retain freedom in their design choices while still benefiting from necessary system components. This new architecture provides features like lifetime security updates, reusing existing code, remote debugging, secure boot, over-the-air firmware updates, and secure communications, which bring agility to IoT development and speed up the "time to value" for developers. Twilio Microvisor is designed to be developer-friendly, with a simple pricing model of a one-time fee for 10 years of service, and will be available in a closed pilot, private beta, and public beta stage.
