Supabase, a PostgreSQL-based open-source alternative to Firebase, has released its Beta version after ten months of development. Key features include improved performance, security, and reliability. Users can now add comments and descriptions directly to their tables from the auto-generated documentation. Real-time changes are reflected in the Table View immediately, and table pagination is also available for working with large data sets. Supabase has raised $6M in a seed round from Y Combinator, Mozilla, and Coatue. The company plans to release Supabase Storage and a CLI for better local development in Q1 2021.
