The world is changing, and humans are no longer the only ones performing tasks; AI agents are doing so as well. Building great products requires a deep understanding of both human users and their needs, as well as that of AI agents. Developer Experience (DX) focuses on making products feel amazing for developers, while Agent Experience (AX) extends DX to make products feel amazing for AI agents. Poor DX can lead to poor AX, where agents struggle with tasks due to unclear or outdated documentation, slow onboarding processes, and inadequate APIs. Great DX and AX, however, enable seamless interactions between humans and AI agents, with features like clear metrics and alerts, well-structured REST APIs, audit logs, and granular permissions. To optimize for both, developers should focus on areas such as onboarding, SDKs, documentation, API keys, RBAC, and logging, ensuring that their products are intuitive, efficient, and secure for both human users and AI agents.
