LangChain is exploring the concept of memory in LLM systems through a journaling app called "LangFriend". The aim is to improve user experience by remembering previous interactions and learning from them. Memory can be actively utilized or incorporated as a background process, allowing for more engaging and adaptive interactions. Inspired by academic work and innovative companies in the field, LangChain's research preview showcases the potential of incorporating long-term memory into LLM applications. The community is invited to explore LangFriend, provide feedback, and join in pushing the boundaries of what's possible with memory in LLM applications.
