InfluxData has announced the general availability of its next-generation open source time series database platform, InfluxDB 2.0, which offers enhanced IoT and edge capabilities and is designed to make it faster and easier for developers to build and deploy modern time-based applications. The company also launched a new open source project called InfluxDB I0x, which aims to reimagine storage by separating storage from compute and using object storage as the durability layer. InfluxDB 2.0 features a new query and programming language called Flux, improved templates for common use cases, edge functionality, client libraries, and tight integration with InfluxDB Cloud, the serverless, elastically scalable, fully managed time series database platform. The company is committed to developer productivity and has made InfluxDB 2.0 available under a permissive MIT License, one of the most liberal open source licenses.
