Flora, an eBPF-based observability agent from Groundcover, excels in cloud-native environments by delivering full observability with minimal resource impact. It surpasses traditional monitoring solutions with its performance-first mindset and uses new, unorthodox eBPF concepts to unlock low overhead kernel-user data transferring mechanisms. Flora outperformed leading observability platforms including Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Pixie Labs in a benchmark test, demonstrating minimal to zero overhead on CPU and memory while significantly reducing the resource consumption of applications it monitors. Its use of a nearly zero-copy, memory efficient pipeline converts observations from the kernel into meaningful outputs, making it an attractive solution for cloud-native environments where resource efficiency is critical.
