The point-of-sale (POS) market is witnessing a shift towards Android-based solutions, driven by the need for cloud-based systems and the adoption of mobile devices. POSBANK, a Korean company, has been manufacturing kiosks since 1994 and provides various solutions to businesses, including healthcare, retail, and restaurants. The company's Senior Global Project Manager, Steve Kwon, discussed the evolution of contactless payment solutions and kiosks during the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that sales from industries such as hospitality declined but other sectors, like POSBANK's domestic market in Korea, saw an increase in adoption. Kwon emphasized the importance of evaluating potential manufacturing partners early on when building custom kiosk solutions, citing POSBANK's stringent Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and regulations to ensure high-quality products. The company has partnered with Esper to help retailers speed up mobile modernization, offering kiosks with Esper's custom Android operating system that can be shipped directly to storefronts for remote deployment, management, and monitoring.
