An in-depth evaluation was conducted on 4 leading Android Single-Board Computers (SBCs) - Tinker Board SK, Khadas Edge-V, Khadas VIM 3, and Toradex Colibri IMX8X - to assess their maturity, specs, performance under simulated real-world conditions, and compatibility with various use cases such as commercial deployments of Android kiosk mode apps. The evaluation considered factors like hardware specifications, firmware customization, software support, customer support, adapters, and cables, as well as processor power, display definition, memory, storage, Bluetooth, WiFi, audio, USB, camera, weight, size, PCIe, M.2, RTC, and wake-on-Lan capabilities. Additionally, the boards underwent extreme testing to assess their compatibility under a stressful real-world workload, including monkey tests, continuous reboot tests, Geekbench CPU and compute tests, and more. The results highlighted unique pros and cons for each board, with two boards standing out in terms of performance and one offering particularly rich BSP stability and tooling for production readiness.
