This enables developers to scale resources-intensive services like backend processing with Dedicated CPU instances that autoscale based on demand, while sharing a fixed-scale Shared CPU instance for redundancy. App Platform also integrates with DigitalOcean Managed Kafka Offering, simplifying environment variable configuration and allowing users to focus on building their app rather than infrastructure setup. The platform provides a seamless integration with Kafka, enabling the producer-consumer pattern needed in microservices architectures, and is currently being iteratively improved with features like secure Kafka connections and enhanced user experience for environment variables setup.
