Over 500 developers participated in the Open Source Realtime AI Hackathon, which took place from October 19 to 20 in San Francisco. The event was sponsored by several companies and aimed to explore innovations and push the boundaries of real-time AI, multimodal engagement, and open-source. Christoph Heike won first place with his project "Cruzy", a Real-Time Roadtrip Assistant that combined video, voice AI, and map navigation. The hackathon brought together developers from various backgrounds and industries, including web development, startups, and AI research. Participants competed for $20,000 in cash prizes by developing projects such as speech AI bots, virtual avatars, and apps combining text, voice, graphics, and video. The event provided a unique opportunity for developers to connect with fellow developers and learn from each other's experiences.
