The US Department of Defense has awarded four companies with $9 billion cloud-computing contracts for a new architecture called Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability. This decision reverses an earlier award to Microsoft for the JEDI contract. Many cloud providers offer Software-as-a-Service remote development solutions, but these may not be available on isolated government data centers. Coder, a self-hosted software, allows institutions participating in multi-cloud contracts to deploy one remote development platform across multiple clouds, reducing total cost of ownership and training requirements.
