Cloudflare has announced several updates to its Agents SDK, a platform for building AI agents. The new features include the ability for AI agents to connect to external services through MCP (Model Context Protocol), which allows them to interact with tools and resources served by different service providers. This enables users to give their AI agent secure access to their data and applications without having to build authentication flow from scratch. Additionally, Cloudflare is integrating its Agents SDK with Stytch, Auth0, and WorkOS to make it easier for developers to configure authentication and authorization for their MCP servers. The new updates also include support for hibernation in McpAgent instances, which allows stateful MCP servers to sleep during inactive periods and wake up with their state preserved when needed. Furthermore, Durable Objects are now available on the free tier, allowing developers to build AI agents on Cloudflare without committing to a paid plan.
