Raster analytics has arrived on the cloud, making it possible to manage large raster datasets faster and easier. CARTO and Snowflake have developed tools to store and manage rasters as tables, allowing for efficient storage and querying of big data. This is achieved through a partitioned format called Quadbin grid, which enables highly performant storage of big data. Additionally, CARTO provides user-defined functions that allow users to perform complex spatial analyses directly within Snowflake. The CARTO Data Loader also optimizes raster data for cloud storage, improving efficiency and speed. By combining raster and vector data, users can create more complete spatial analyses, and by utilizing these tools, they can scale up their analysis capabilities.
