Building a Builder

Hex, a company focused on making analytics more collaborative and shareable, has developed an improved app layout engine for its App Builder. The new engine combines the flexibility of Canvas's drag-and-drop feature with the auto-generated layout of Story mode, addressing user pain points in previous versions. Through extensive user research and prototyping, Hex determined that a grid-backed layout would best serve users' needs for both narrative and dashboard app types. The new App Builder is now the default experience for Hex users, offering improved flexibility and usability.
