Open VSX

The Eclipse Open VSX project aims to create a vendor-neutral extension registry for Visual Studio Code (VS Code) extensions. Currently, only Microsoft products can access and use the Microsoft Extension Marketplace. This new registry will be hosted at the vendor-neutral Eclipse Foundation and its code will be made available as open-source. The Open VSX project also includes a web interface and a CLI to make publishing easy. Developers are encouraged to publish their extensions to this new registry in addition to Microsoft's, allowing for greater control over extension availability and accessibility.
