Gitpod has announced a $13 million funding round led by General Catalyst and revealed several product milestones aimed at defining a new category in modern software development. The company's focus is to remove friction from the developer experience and empower developers to be always ready-to-code. Along with the funding, Gitpod has also revamped its visual and brand identity. The company has introduced VS Code as the default editing experience in Gitpod, announced general availability of sudo privileges and Docker support, and completely rebuilt the dashboard frontend for improved workflows. Additionally, Gitpod is hosting DevX Conf on April 28-29 to discuss and declutter workflows, toolchains, and minds related to software development.
