Arkansas engineer wins round 3 of Project Jengo, and Cloudflare continues to win at the Patent Office
Cloudflare's Project Jengo has awarded $5,000 to Curtis Carter for his contribution in finding prior art related to a patent owned by Sable Networks. This is the second iteration of Project Jengo, which aims to discourage patent trolls from leveraging overbroad and unpracticed patents to extract settlements from operating entities. The project has already awarded $30,000 in total. In addition, Cloudflare has successfully killed off Sable's '932 patent through Inter Partes Review (IPR) process with the US Patent Office. This victory means that Sable Networks has one less patent to leverage for abusing the patent system.
