How our solutions team engineered WaterHack 2018
The WaterHack 2018 event was a partnership between ONGAWA and Vizzuality, aimed at analyzing survey data collected by ONGAWA to promote human development and social change in Tanzanian villages. The participants used programming languages like R and Python, interface tools like pandas and CARTOframes, and Javascript libraries like D3.js and CARTO.js to explore the survey data. They discovered that building a vulnerability index could help relief organizations allocate resources effectively, and created data visualizations such as maps of water accessibility and travel time. These discoveries highlighted the problem's multidimensional nature and the impact of water insecurity on gender inequality, emphasizing the importance of working with data sharing technologies to find sustainable solutions to combat climate change.
