Sunsetting our Places feature
Algolia has decided to sunset its Places feature after 18 months, during which customers can continue using it without disruption. Launched in 2014 as an alternative to Google Places Autocomplete, Algolia Places was a fast and easy-to-use address autocomplete solution built on OpenStreetMap. However, the feature faced challenges due to its reliance on an open source community and limitations in providing street level accuracy. The decision to discontinue Places allows Algolia to focus on other product areas such as Algolia AI. Customers are provided with potential alternatives and support during the transition period until May 31st, 2022.
