DBaaS Migration Speedrun: PlanetScale to Timescale Cloud

In this article, Jacob Prall shares his experience migrating PlanetScale data to Timescale Cloud as a result of PlanetScale's discontinuation of their free hobbyist tier. Despite Airbyte not having native connectors for PlanetScale or Timescale Cloud, he successfully used the vanilla MySQL and Postgres connectors to complete the migration in approximately 7 minutes and 16 seconds. The author highlights that DBaaS providers often expose instances with similar interfaces as their open-source counterparts, allowing Airbyte connectors to work seamlessly. He recommends testing smaller workloads before relying on these connectors for production databases.
