I'm anti to-do list—here are the 6 lists I make instead
I've found alternative approaches to traditional to-do lists by organizing tasks based on urgency, priority, or the sense of accomplishment they'll reward me with. I use a "things I need to do" list for important and urgent tasks, a monthly goal list for non-urgent but time-critical tasks, a "can I outsource or automate this?" list for repetitive tasks that don't require my specific skills, a spare time to-do list for smaller tasks that take less than 15 minutes to complete, a "things I've already done" list to emphasize accomplishments and avoid open loops, and a "things I have permission not to do" list to give myself permission to skip certain tasks. These alternatives help me manage my task management more effectively and reduce anxiety associated with traditional to-do lists.
