What I Built: Arthur Tham’s uwu-laden pandemic video game
HackUWU is a quirky video game that fills a much-needed gap during the pandemic, offering joy and comfort through its simple yet addictive gameplay. The game's storyline revolves around finding love in using affectionate phrases like "uwu", "owo", and "ewe" while avoiding common university temptations. Created by Arthur Tham, a recent UC Irvine graduate, HackUWU won the Best Joke Hack award at HackUCI in 2019 and has since become an instant success. The game uses Twilio's APIs to create a fun experience with quirky graphics and a bouncy soundtrack, making it a perfect escape during times of stress. Tham is now working on another game, building brain memory muscles, and exploring new technologies as a developer and Twilio Field Operator.
