How Authy uses your personal and device data
Authy uses personal and device data primarily for enhancing security in its two-factor authentication (2FA) services. The app allows users to save their Google Authenticator tokens, encrypt them, back them up in a secure cloud service, and access them on multiple devices. Data such as device information, IP address, phone number or email is not shared outside of Twilio unless the Authy app is used in conjunction with the Authy API for businesses to implement 2FA protection. In this case, some user data can be beneficial to these businesses to ensure incoming authentication attempts are legitimate. Data sharing is detailed in their API documentation and only occurs when it results in increased security of user accounts. No personal information is shared or sold for marketing or advertising purposes.
