Supabase Realtime, with Multiplayer Features
Today marks Supabase Realtime Day, where we announce and demonstrate the latest version of Realtime with multiplayer features. This new version introduces multi-tenancy to listen to multiple databases simultaneously, as well as a distributed cluster of nodes for better resource utilization, fault tolerance, and lower latencies. Built on Elixir and Phoenix, Realtime now supports WebSocket functionality for building multiplayer games, collaborative apps, and more. New features include Presence for showing user online status, Broadcasts for sending ephemeral events, and Extensions for listening to database changes from various sources. A demo application showcases the new functionalities, and users can sign up for the waitlist at multiplayer.dev or follow development on GitHub.
