Taking Sentry’s Rollback from Hack Week Project to Production

Sentry's Rollback is a year-in-review experience designed specifically for Sentry developers, featuring a snarky tone and highlighting achievements and lightly roasting failures. The project originated as an internal Hack Week project, bringing together people from various departments to create something fun and innovative. After its initial release, it gained popularity and was decided to be shipped to production, with some modifications to make it more robust. Rollback uses data from Sentry's users to generate unique personalities for each user based on their actions within an organization. The project also features a custom soundtrack and animations created using Lottie and Motion libraries. To ensure the feature is not used in workplace conversations, organizations have the option to disable it entirely. Despite some challenges, the Rollback was well-received by users, who shared their experiences on social media and even pledged to use Sentry more in 2025.
