Initially, it was a donation matching concept but evolved into direct funding due to challenges in participation. The Open Source Pledge encourages companies to commit to giving $2,000 per engineer annually to their dependencies. Sentry believes that this modest contribution can have significant impact on the open source community and improve brand marketing and supply chain efficiency.
