Lessons learned building headless chrome as a service
Mux has introduced Web Broadcast, a new kind of web experience that enables developers to stream complex video experiences from the browser without worrying about technicalities like RTMP, Groups of Pictures, or X264 flags. With Web Broadcast, users can create interactive digital conferences and overlay content on their websites with ease using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The system uses a combination of processes to translate web pages into an RTMP stream, including Chrome for video composition, FFmpeg for packaging video frames and audio samples, and PulseAudio or PipeWire for handling audio streams. Web Broadcast is currently in development but can be tested by reaching out to the Mux team.
