Innovazione e salute: MongoDB a supporto della Piattaforma Nazionale di Telemedicina

What's this blog post about?

The Italian National Telemedicine Platform (PNT) is a project aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services across the country, in line with the objectives set by the Piano di Ripresa e Resilienza for Digital Health. PNT Italia, a joint venture between Engineering and Almaviva, has been tasked with designing, implementing, and managing this platform, which integrates regional telemedicine services. The project is divided into three phases: design and implementation, followed by two years of start-up and consolidation, and finally the management phase. MongoDB Atlas serves as the database for PNT due to its ability to handle standard HL7 FHIR data, multicloud nature, security features, and horizontal scalability for large amounts of data. The platform is designed to be open, scalable, and event-oriented, with a stack based on Java Spring for back-end and Angular for front-end. Online Archive and Encryption at Rest are among the MongoDB services already in use by PNT.
