MongoDB Helps Asian Retailers Scale and Innovate at Speed
MongoDB is helping Asian retailers scale and innovate at speed, as more businesses in the ASEAN region adopt document database models to support expansion and respond quickly to changing customer demands. EasyEat, a Malaysian-Indonesian restaurant software-as-a-service (SaaS) point-of-sale (POS) system provider, has grown rapidly since its 2020 launch, now serving over 1,300 merchants and four million consumers across both countries. EasyEat's Engineering Manager Deepanshu Rawat explained how MongoDB Atlas enabled rapid scaling of operations for the merchant POS and consumer applications, as well as greater flexibility, faster product development, and ease of use for the engineering team. Alfamart, a leading Indonesian retailer with over 19,000 stores across Indonesia and the Philippines, has also benefited from MongoDB Atlas's flexible document database model to sustain massive scale and power its digital transformation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company's Chief Technology Officer Bambang Setyawan Djojo highlighted how fast processing times are critical to keep customers happy, with MongoDB reducing transaction scanning time from 10 seconds to below one second. Alfamart plans to continue exploring the potential of the MongoDB Atlas platform to further increase productivity, efficiency, and flexibility.
