Business Case: Hookdeck vs Amazon EventBridge
In this article, we compared two approaches to processing webhooks asynchronously - AWS EventBridge and Hookdeck. Both systems offer different advantages and disadvantages based on factors such as complexity, maintenance, cost, security, scalability, and reliability. While EventBridge is highly configurable and can work with any SaaS provider, it requires proficiency in cloud architecture design and solid understanding of AWS services. On the other hand, Hookdeck offers a quick and easy setup process, intuitive dashboard for monitoring and troubleshooting webhook requests, and minimal points of failure. However, it currently does not support all SaaS providers and its reliability is yet to be tested as extensively as that of AWS services. Ultimately, the choice between EventBridge and Hookdeck depends on specific project requirements and constraints.
