Command Lines, Flyctl and Fly

Dj Walker-Morgan has introduced the new Fly Global Application Platform, which aims to make all applications fast and global. The platform is driven by command lines, with the flyctl tool covering the entire lifecycle of a Fly application. The use of command lines allows for easy integration into modern workflows and toolchains. Fly's previous command-line technology was built on Node, but they have now switched to Go for flyctl, which enables self-contained binaries for various platforms. Cobra, the command-line engine used by popular cloud tools like Kubernetes, Moby/Docker, and Hugo, has also been adopted for flyctl. The platform's web interface is designed to display rich, informative dashboards and metric displays alongside a command-line experience. Fly's focus on developers includes picking the right tools, making things reproducible and documentable, and ensuring an enjoyable user experience.
