The Importance of Database Analytics

Production and operational systems that sit on top of databases continuously stream transactional data from various sources, including sensors, digital footprints, and ERP platforms. Metrics and KPIs can be tracked using data from these databases, falling into categories such as operations, product, and marketing. However, production and operational databases are not optimized for analytics queries, which require a fundamentally different approach to OLTP (online transactional processing). To efficiently analyze this data without interfering with operations, it must be moved from the databases to a data warehouse using data integration solutions like Fivetran.
