Understand the scope of user impact with Watchdog Impact Analysis

What's this blog post about?

Watchdog is an AI engine by Datadog that uses machine learning algorithms like anomaly detection to automatically identify performance issues in infrastructure and applications without any manual setup or configuration. It generates alerts on anomalies such as latency spikes, elevated error rates, and network issues in cloud providers to help reduce the mean time to detection. Watchdog now includes Impact Analysis, which shows how performance issues may be impacting users by analyzing various latency and error metrics submitted from RUM SDKs. This feature helps determine the scope of a performance issue in a service, including which parts of an application are affected and who is being impacted. It assists in prioritizing troubleshooting problems that affect the most significant number of users, provides details on exactly which users are impacted, and allows for creating detailed postmortems to document user impact and other findings. Watchdog Impact Analysis is now automatically enabled for all Datadog APM and RUM users.
