Ingest OpenTelemetry traces and metrics with the Datadog Agent

What's this blog post about?

OpenTelemetry is an initiative by Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) that provides open and vendor-neutral standards for instrumenting services and applications. Datadog has contributed its distributed tracing libraries to the CNCF community and offers multiple solutions for users to send observability data to their preferred backend. Today, Datadog announces official support for OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP) in the Datadog Agent, enabling reliable ingestion of traces and metrics from applications instrumented with OpenTelemetry libraries. This allows users to get deep visibility into their OpenTelemetry-instrumented applications without updating their code or migrating away from existing workflows.
