Monitor system performance across longer time frames with historical metrics

What's this blog post about?

Custom metrics in Datadog allow businesses to monitor vital data such as application KPIs, infrastructure metrics, user behavior, and usage. Historical metric values are now accepted by Datadog, enabling the submission of data with timestamps exceeding one hour prior to the time of submission. This feature supports long-term data analysis for various use cases like outage recovery, data science, data correction, IoT, and transit. Enabling historical metrics ingestion allows users to submit and backfill data with timestamps as old as their account's metric retention period. The Metrics Summary page in Datadog now includes a Historical Metrics facet box for easy identification of metrics based on their historical data ingestion status. Additionally, the automatically generated metric datadog.metrics.tracking.historical_metrics_ingestion provides insights into historical metrics configuration and volumes.
